Chief Michael Maniago
Chief Michael Maniago has been a police officer for 38 years with the Torrington, Connecticut Police Department. Chief Maniago is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy, session 233 in Quantico, VA, the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development program, session 68 in Quantico, VA, and the Southern Police Institute’s Chief Executive training course. He has a Bachelor of General Studies Degree concentrating in Management from the University of Connecticut, a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Hartford and a Masters Degree in Professional Studies concentrating in Homeland Security from the University of Connecticut.
During his career with the Torrington Police Department Chief Maniago has held every rank in the department serving as Commanding Officer of the Vice and Narcotics Unit, the Detective Division, the Support Services Division and the Patrol Division. He also served as Deputy Police Chief for 4.5 years.
Chief Maniago is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Police Executive Research Forum, the Connecticut Chiefs of Police Association, the New England Chiefs of Police Association and the Western Connecticut Regional Chiefs of Police Association. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association and is the President of the Western Connecticut Chiefs of Police Association. He serves on numerous committees for IACP and CPCA.
Chief Maniago has taught on the Community College level in the area of Management and has been certified to instruct in the area of Gangs, Report Writing, Problem Oriented Policing and Police Pursuits.
