Deputy Chief Christopher Smedick
Deputy Chief Smedick was promoted to his current position on April 23, 2009, after serving the City of Torrington for 27 years. Deputy Chief Smedick started his career in Torrington as a patrol officer in 1982. His accomplishments include field training officer for new recruits, Police K-9 Officer, Accident Investigation Team Supervisor, Special Response Team Commanding Officer, and past President and Charter Member of the Police Athletic League.
In 1989 he was promoted to Detective, and in 1999, he was promoted to Sergeant in the Patrol Division. In 1996 he was promoted to Lieutenant, serving as a commander in the Patrol Division and in 2002 was assigned the Commanding Officer of the Detective Division.
In 2006 he was promoted to Captain and took command of the Patrol Division and in 2008 was placed in command of the Support Service Division where he remained until his promotion to Deputy Chief.
